Edge Insights is an automated CAN bus analysis tool for teams developing, testing, and maintaining J1939-based vehicles and systems. It continuously captures CAN traffic and turns raw log data into reviewable anomalies, so engineers can focus on resolving faults rather than searching through files.

Description

Edge Insights is designed for validation engineers, HIL teams, embedded developers, and field-service engineers working with trucks, buses, construction equipment, mining, marine, and other heavy-duty CAN networks. It helps detect issues earlier, during development and testing, before they become expensive production or field failures.

Core Features

  • Automatic anomaly detection for timing deviations, bus congestion, error frames, and unknown identifiers.
  • Learned baseline. A configurable learn window records identifiers and per-message timing, then freezes a baseline. Detection compares live traffic against your bus, not against shipped rules. The baseline is inspectable, and can be re-taught as the bus changes.
  • Unified dashboards that put every anomaly class in one view, with decoded signals alongside, so events can be reviewed and correlated in one place.
  • Continuous CAN logging and analysis with configurable data retention. Anomalies are kept permanently; routine data is pruned as storage fills.
  • Log export and offline re-analysis. Export raw or decoded data by time range or around a flagged anomaly. Import an existing log and re-run the same analysis on a PC. Supports MDF v4.11, ASC, Kvaser and candump formats.
  • All data stays on the device. Capture, decode, analysis and storage happen locally. No bus traffic, no decoded signals and no analytics leave the machine, and no cloud account is required.
  • Runs on Windows and Linux, on x86-64 and arm64. Classic CAN and CAN FD. SocketCAN on Linux, Kvaser CANlib on Windows. Generic DBC, J1939 and NMEA 2000 single-frame PGNs.
  • From bench to vehicle. The same software runs on a Windows or Linux PC during development and test, and on an embedded Linux device in the vehicle for production monitoring. Validated on Kvaser Edge.

Beta Access

This is a beta release of Edge Insights. By joining, you get early access and the opportunity to help shape its development.

The license is per device, tied to the machine it is activated on and transferable to another. It is free during the beta program. Activation is online; the unit runs offline afterward.

During the beta period, we would greatly value your feedback on:

  • Features that are most useful in your daily CAN-analysis workflow
  • Missing capabilities, integrations, or hardware support
  • Dashboard usability and anomaly-detection results
  • Bugs, edge cases, and performance observations
  • Improvements that would make Edge Insights more valuable for your test, validation or field environment

Your input will directly help us prioritize product improvements ahead of future releases.
